| اِعْلَمْ أَنَّ أَفْعَل إِذَا كَاْنَ صِفَةً لَمْ يَنْصَرِفْ فِي مَعْرِفَةٍ وَلَا نَكِرَةٍ | 3٤٤٥١٧ | know that ˀafʕal when it is a qualifier it does not enserif in something recognized nor in something unrecognized |
| وَذَلِكَ لِأَنَّهَا أَشْبَهَتْ الْأَفْعَاْلَ | 4٥٩٦٨١ | and that since it resembles the actions |
| نَحْوَ أَذْهَبُ وَأَعْلَمُ | 5١٨٤٠٨ |

| قُلْتُ فَمَا بَاْلُهُ لَا يَنْصَرِفُ إِذَا كَاْنَ صِفَةً وَهُوَ نَكِرَةٌ | 6٣١٧٠٤ | I said “so why does it not enserif when it is a qualifier and it is something unrecognized” |
| فَقَاِلَ لِأَنَّ الصِّفَاْتَ أَقْرَبُ إلَى الْأَفْعَاْلِ | 7٣٤٢٨٦ | so he said “since the qualifiers are nearer to the actions” |
| فَاسْتَثْقَلُوْا التَّنْوِيْنَ فِيهِ كَمَا اسْتَثْقَلُوْهُ فِي الْأَفْعَاْلِ | 8٠٠٨٩٤ | “so they treat the tanwīn in it as heavy, as they treat it as heavy in the actions” |
| وَأَرَاْدُوْا أَنْ يَكُوْنَ فِي الِاسْتِثْقَاْلِ كَالْفِعْلِ | 9٧٩٠٧٥ |
“and they desire that
it the qualifier of form أَفْعَل
be, in treatment as heavy, like
the actioni.e. the verbs of form أَفْعَلَ ”

| إِذْ كَاْنَ مِثْلَهُ فِي الْبِنَاْءِ وَالزِّيَاْدَةِ وَضَارَعَهُ | 10٨٢١١٣ |
“since it is like it in construction
and augmentation and it co-homologizes it i.e. these أفْعَل nouns
and verbs of the same form are mutually homologous (similar) ”

| وَذَلِكَ نَحْوُ أَخْضَرُ وَأَحْمَرُ وَأَسْوَدُ وَأَبْيَضُ وَآدَرُ | 11٠٦٩٢٧ |

| فَهُوَ عَلَى حَاْلِهِ قَبْلَ أَنْ تُحَقِّرَهُ | 13٨٥٧٢٧ |
so it remains on its circumstance i.e. it remains in the same state as
before diminutivization

| مِنْ قِبَلِ أَنَّ الزِّيَاْدَةَ الَّتِي أَشْبَهَ بِهَا الْفِعْلَ مَعَ الْبِنَاءِ ثَاْبِتَةٌ | 14٤٨٥٠٩ | since that the augmentation by which it resembles the action, with the construction, is constant |
| وَأَشْبَهَ هَذَا مِنَ الْفِعْلِ مَا أُمَيْلِحَ زَيْدًا | 15٨٢٧٦٨ |
and an action that resembles this is
mā ˀumayliḥa zaydᵃⁿ how very goodly is Zayd!
